Poetry

The Bucktown Arts Fest believes in the power of the spoken word.

If you happen to be a poet, Chicago is the place to be.  Not only is the city home to institutions like the Poetry Foundation and the Poetry Center, Chicago is also the birthplace of the slam poetry movement.  Poets like Carl Sandburg and Gwendolyn Brooks helped give Chicago the lyric reputation it enjoys today and the Bucktown Arts fest is committed to keeping that poetic dream alive.

Through poetry programming at the fest, young and old can enjoy poetic performance from some of the city’s most dynamic, visible poets.  Look for poetry performance on the mainstage and watch as this part of our beloved arts fair continues to grow and adapt to the needs and wants of poetry fans in Chicago!
