This year’s film program will be curated by Amir George and The Cinema Culture.
The Cinema Culture is a grassroots advocacy group that promotes and exhibits the work of new and established filmmakers. The programs are curated by film and video maker Amir George. In collaboration with Chicago Filmmakers for the past three years Amir has curated the film student only festival City Wide Film School Showcase and The Seen & Heard Music Video Showcase which highlights visuals from local and national indie music artists.
Amir created the Cinema Culture with the desire to promote and exhibit work from yet to be known filmmakers and his own work. Amir’s short films, music video work, and experimental videos have played in film festivals and special programs throughout the country. His most recent short feature film The Mind of Delilah about a budding collage artist preparing for her first exhibition is currently making its run on the film festival circuit.
For this year’s Bucktown Arts Festival film program Amir has selected cool and creative work from his curatorial archives of local film students. New work from Detroit born filmmaker Lewis Vaughn,The Les Fauves (The Wild Beast) Collection which is a visual comprised of six eclectic pieces that form a canvas of sensual experience. While not void of common perceptions. LFC is nor a film or a painting, it is an installation of textures and sonics that form an engrossing piece of art.
Another film screening will be local film talent’s Amanda Daniels festival favorite film Aerosol de Amore. Morrocan born filmmaker Simo Ezoubeiri will premiering three new films never shown in Chicago. The Cinema Culture is excited to present this years film program for the Bucktown Arts Fest.
