The Huffington Post named Kids These Days one of the three acts not to be missed at Lollapalooza 2011. And The New York Times is raving about them. But that’s not news to the Bucktown Arts Fest.
Since 2009, Blake Beckstrom and his son Lane, who plays bass in the band, have been curating a youth stage at the fest. And what began as an experiment in front of their garage at Lyndale and Leavitt has turned into a platform to hear amazing new talent.
Since then, Kids These Days have skyrocketed to success, playing Mayor Rahm Emmanuel’s inauguration, Summerfest in Milwaukee, the House of Blues and Lollapalooza. Not to mention tour dates all over North America.
Kids These Days also includes Vic Mensa on rap vocals, Macie Stewart on lead and background vocals, Liam Cunningham on guitar and lead vocals, Greg Landfair on drums, Nico Segal on trumpet, J.P. Floyd on trombone and Rajiv Halim on saxophone.
The 2011 fest is excited to welcome Macie Stewart and select members from the band as the Sunday evening closing act at the New Jazz Roots stage!
Stop by at 5:30pm – we’re sure it’s a show you won’t want to miss!
